WHAT’S GOING ON?  Barden Accounting & Tax and our partner firm Barden Financial Services are delighted to be working together with one of Cork’s rising Fintech stars… and wow have they got some interesting roles coming up for ambitious accounting, finance and compliance professionals looking to build their career in one of Ireland’s most innovative FS businesses….

 

WHAT EXACTLY IS FINTECH?  The nature of finance is changing dramatically with the rise of digital providers. Financial technology, or Fintech, has emerged as a sector in its own right and enjoying rapid growth. Fintech is the term used to refer to innovations in the financial and technology crossover space, and typically refers to companies or services that use technology to provide financial services to businesses or consumers. It’s the future.

 

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE IN CORK?  The good news is that there’s lots going on, from recent graduate-level to manager/snr manager level (salaries up to 60K +benefits) in a variety of fields.  Some examples include:

 

1) Finance Management/ Finance administration:  Ownership of finance administration for client accounts. Working on the finance operational processes, distributions, investment transactions, investor reporting, financing arrangements, facilities, investor queries, processing payments on behalf of clients and settlements.

Who would this suit? These opportunities would suit you if you:

  • Hold a degree in finance, business, commerce (our client often support professional accountancy exams (both financially & with study leave) if this is in your 5 year plan… but it is not a requirement for the role)
  • Have an interest in finance, finance systems, problem-solving
  • Enjoy working with numbers, identifying errors and reporting

 

2) Compliance/Legal:  Working directly with Investors, getting to know the customer (ie: the investor), reviewing subscriptions, following up on missing information with the client, and ensuring documentation is managed effectively.

Who would this suit? These opportunities would suit you if you:

  • Hold a degree in law, finance or economics
  • Have an interest in helping businesses to be compliant & to become an expert on compliance and regulations
  • Enjoy engaging with people, goal setting & achieving objectives and getting results

 

3) Relationship management:   Liaising with clients, providing updates, explaining what is happening with their financial assets, answering queries, following up on issues, engaging with new investors who wish to business partner with our client.

Who would this suit? These opportunities would suit you if you:

  • Hold a degree/qualification
  • Have an interest in problem-solving, a positive disposition, genuine enjoyment of engaging with people and being an ambassador for the business
  • Enjoy a broad role with a range of duties- supporting other teams, supporting clients, gaining an understanding of the business from both sides
