Chief Operations Officer – Manufacturer, Distributor, and Wholesaler Co. Louth

Barden have been exclusively retained by one of Irelands leading manufacturers and distributors of machine parts for the automotive industry.  With a strong commitment to quality and innovation, our client is seeking an experienced Chief Operations Officer to lead their operational efforts and drive excellence in their manufacturing and distribution processes.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Manufacturing:

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that optimise production processes, ensure product quality, and meet customer demands.
  • Oversee production planning, scheduling, and capacity utilisation to maximize operational efficiency and minimise lead times.
  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to introduce new products and improve existing ones, ensuring alignment with market demands.
  • Implement and monitor lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all manufacturing personnel.

Distribution:

  • Lead the distribution and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
  • Implement effective inventory management strategies to minimize carrying costs while meeting customer demand levels.
  • Optimise warehouse operations, layout, and automation to enhance order fulfilment efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to ensure cost-effective transportation solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align manufacturing and distribution strategies with customer needs and market trends.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure timely availability of raw materials.
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring a cohesive approach to achieving business goals.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to maintain product standards and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective action plans, to address quality issues

Operational Efficiency:

  • Analyse operational data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the efficiency, productivity, and overall performance of manufacturing and distribution operations

Team Management:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to manufacturing and distribution teams, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages employee engagement and development.

ABOUT THE PERSON:  

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and distribution operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and optimising manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with inventory management, supply chain optimisation, and logistics coordination.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex operational challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in utilising manufacturing software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different functional areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality control practices within the manufacturing sector.
