Barden is acting on behalf of a dynamic software organization undergoing a remarkable transformation in its product offerings. As they navigate this exciting period of change, they have established an Innovation Centre to drive new products and propel their technology to new heights. At the forefront of this initiative is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), who envisions creating a brain trust of the sharpest minds right here in Cork.

They are currently on the lookout for top-tier talent to join their expanding team. One key role they are eager to appoint is a Director of Programme Management, requiring proven expertise in programme management and agile methodologies to contribute to their transformation.

We are seeking an experienced Agnostic Programme Manager with strong project management execution skills. This role is crucial in driving the engineering function, ensuring process cohesion, and continually improving our methodologies. The ideal person will have robust cross-functional communication skills, strong documentation abilities, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Oversee and execute the engineering programme, raising the bar on current practices.
  • Act as the CTO’s number two, handling delegated tasks and supporting the CTO in various capacities.
  • Proactively spot gaps in processes and operations, fixing them as necessary and knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Be deeply familiar with Agile methodologies, ensuring the team adheres to best practices.
  • Manage a global team of approximately 300 people, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Effectively communicate with executive leadership, providing clear updates and insights.


  • Proven experience as a Programme Manager in a software company.
  • Strong project management execution skills with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.
  • Ability to run the engineering function without needing to be deeply technical.
  • Exceptional documentation skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in continually improving processes within an engineering context.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, capable of influencing and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing large, global teams (circa 300 people).
  • Strong executive communication skills, capable of acting as the CTO’s number two.
  • Previous experience in a role with Chief of Staff responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and fix issues within processes and operations.
