An exciting opportunity for an employment tax manager to join the in-house tax function of an international group, headquartered in Dublin.  

A newly created opportunity within the company to support group and local HR teams and tax teams on employment tax, global mobility and share option related matters.  This will involve working closely with Group and local HR, tax, finance and legal teams as well as external advisers across multiple jurisdictions.  You will also support the head of tax with IPO related employment tax planning as required and on other ad hoc projects as they arise.

About the position 

  • Assisting with the management of relocations and secondments from a tax perspective to ensure compliance with home and host country payroll tax requirements and social security obligations including advice on tax efficient relocation packages
  • Assist with briefings provided to inbound and outbound mobile employees from a tax and social security perspective
  • Review and update of Global Mobility policies, procedures and processes from a tax perspective
  • Continuous review and update of company policies including employee expense policies,credit card policies, hybrid working policies etc across the Group to ensure that these are all in line with current legislation.
  • Continuous review and monitoring of payroll tax processes and employee benefits across the Group to ensure payroll tax risks are minimised and to ensure taxable benefits are processed correctly through payroll.
  • Managing the documentation of the current payroll tax processes across the Group from a governance and internal control perspective.
  • Managing the implementation of a third-party software solution to track share option grants and automate the calculation of employer payroll tax withholdings in relevant locations upon share option exercise.
  • Considering the tax implications for all locations of any proposed changes to the Group share option plan.
  • Assisting local HR teams in relation to calculating and processing employer payroll tax withholdings on share option gains in certain locations.
  • Assisting Group and local HR teams with the provision of briefings to employees across the Group on the tax implication of share option grants and exercise.
  • Managing the preparation and submission of share option return filings required for Group entities.
  • Assisting the Group Head of Tax with IPO related employment tax planning as required including assisting with IPO related employment tax due diligence of the Group
  • Assisting the HR and M&A teams with purchaser employment tax due diligence and provision of employment tax support for post-acquisition integrations where required.
  • Assisting the Group and local HR teams with the employment tax aspects of Group reorganisations as they arise.
  • Assisting Group and local HR teams with tax authority interventions (audits, queries etc.) as they relate to employment taxes, including engaging in discussion with the relevant tax authority, review of correspondence and preparation of responses, coordinating with tax advisors etc. as needed.
  • Assisting the Group Head of Tax with other ad-hoc projects and queries as required.

About the person

  • Professional tax qualification required with training and work experience in practice in a Big 4 firm including a period spent at manager level.  Experience in industry post practice desirable, but not necessary
  • Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Confident self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative.
  • Proven ability to manage a broad workload with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to articulate complicated tax concepts in a simple manner to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
