Group Tax Manager

Barden are delighted to be working with our client, an Irish headquartered international group, to identify a group tax manager to join a well established in-house tax function. As group tax manager, you will have a focus on supporting the existing tax reporting & compliance function, with scope for involvement in other varied tax planning & strategy workstreams. This is a key role for the tax function and wider business and offers excellent exposure and career development.

 ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Responsibility for quarterly and year‐end tax provision reporting process including liaising with Group accounting team, Group auditors and external tax advisors where necessary.
  • Responsibility for the budgeting and forecasting process for corporate income taxes together with the related cashflows.
  • Monitoring the reported quarterly corporate income tax expense and Group effective tax rate and rationalising significant fluctuations on ETR.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax filing and payment obligations across all jurisdictions and ensuring that the tax implications of relevant legislative changes are considered and addressed appropriately. Liaising with external service providers in this regard.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of tax disclosure notes in the statutory accounts for relevant Group companies.
  • Preparing and maintaining tax analyses and technical papers to support tax filing positions taken in the event of tax audit challenges.
  • Assisting with information gathering in response to queries from various tax authorities.
  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of processes and controls for SOx 404 compliance purposes.
  • Supporting Group tax technology projects, including liaising with all key stakeholders.
  • Assisting the tax team and the wider business with various consultancy projects and ad-hoc advisory matters as needed.
  • Proactively identifying potential opportunities for risk mitigation and/or tax optimisation.

 ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Candidates will ideally have trained in a Big 4/Top 10 environment and have recognised tax and/or accounting qualifications. Experience in an industry environment would be an advantage.
  • Irish tax compliance, project management and/or international tax experience would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem solving, organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities and complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to professionally represent the Group Tax department when interacting with management, other functions in the Group and outside advisors.
  • Self‐motivated with good project management skills.
