ROLE: Head of Software Engineering – Emerging Tech

Barden are delighted to continue working with a Global organization with a significant presence here in Cork.
As this organization embraces a period of significant change and growth, they are focused on hiring for some key Senior positions within Technology.
In this instance, this client has approached Barden to help them hire for a Senior Software Leader to add real value when it comes to leading the evolution of their product and technology strategy, along with building a growing team of Software Engineers.
The end goal for this role according to the Hiring Manager is –
“That the successful candidate over the long-term will grow & develop the technical team to build a scalable technology infrastructure and enable the companies growth into the future”.
The successful person will be both an Influencer and an Educator who finds it easy to c ultivate an organization-wide culture of Development and Testing automation.
This role offers a Six-figure salary (and attractive Benefits / Bonus package) and very flexible working arrangements with some weekly visits to their strategic Cork site.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- Continuously work to establish clear organisational structures and career / succession plans for all (Software) Engineering staff in line with anticipated growth.
- You’ll be specifically accountable for the delivery of both on-time and high-quality Software product releases
- Have oversight for technology and delivery decision making
- Create, implement and maintain a continuous improvement plan for software development
- Monitor ‘Technical debt’ and ensure remediation as an ongoing activity in the development cycle
- Consistently champion Agile processes across the Development unit to ensure delivery is consistent.
ABOUT THE PERSON:
- The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a senior technical leadership position.
- As the company is growing rapidly candidates should have experience hiring and supporting teams of engineers.
- You’ll be passionate about Coaching and mentoring Software professionals at all levels, empowering them to be the best that they can be.
- Driving consistent standards will come naturally to you in order to ensure best practices and approaches are followed.
