We are delighted to be partnering with our client, a leading FMCG business in West Cork, in their search for a permanent Quality Control Technician for their state-of-the-art facility.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of production lines before start-up to ensure sanitation and operational readiness.
  • Perform real-time quality assessments on products during production, including sensory evaluations, to verify conformance to company and regulatory standards.
  • Accurately calibrate measurement instruments (e.g., scales, thermometers) daily to ensure reliable data collection.
  • Routinely check and record product and equipment temperatures to maintain safe processing conditions.
  • Monitor employee adherence to GMPs throughout the facility, providing guidance and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify, document, and escalate any food safety or quality deviations promptly in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Complete and maintain accurate QC documentation, including production checks, corrective actions, and HACCP records.
  • Collect production samples at scheduled intervals for quality testing, ensuring they meet defined specifications.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of food safety systems, ensuring all practices align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

Skills & Expertise:

  • Level 6 or Level 7 qualification preferred, ideally in Food Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on food safety and quality standards.
  • Highly organized with a sharp attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting, teamwork, and coordination across departments.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Confident in using computers and software applications for data entry, documentation, and quality tracking.
  • HACCP certification is an advantage; working knowledge of food safety systems and regulatory compliance is essential.
