Barden are collaborating with the CRO of a global P&C insurer to identify their next Risk Manager (CF – 1) in Dublin. 

 

THE ROLE 

  • Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Risk Manager will be responsible for delivering key elements of the international enterprise risk and control programme. Overseeing the risk appetite, system of governance and ORSA in line with Company Policy.
  • Primary responsibility will be the design of clear and robust programmes where required, and ongoing monitoring of policy management compliance, risk identification and issue resolution. A strong knowledge of risk best practice together with expertise in Solvency II and Sarbanes Oxley is required.
  • This is a dynamic and challenging role, the responsibilities outlined below are indicative of the initial duties of the position which are likely to constantly evolve and change to meet the needs of the business into the future.
  • Lead and coordinate policy implementation and regulatory change activities across the international geographies, including completion of detailed gap analysis, remediation planning and programme reporting.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with programme requirements through control monitoring and testing activity, review of key indicators and other reporting, identifying negative trends and issues, and where identified perform root cause analysis and close gaps identified.
  • Use expert knowledge of international markets activities and regulation to support robust risk and compliance self-assessments across these geographies, leveraging knowledge of local policies and issue management activity.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for risk initiatives in the international markets relating to strategic initiatives, acquisitions and integration activities, completing all projects and programmes where assigned and providing guidance and support to senior managers as required.
  • Regular update of the risk register, including Risk and controls in order to support the business by identifying emerging trends and threats.
  • Produce high quality reports for the Executive Management Team, Risk Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Assist in on-site Central Bank of Ireland inspections, risk assessments, as they relate to risk activities.
  • Assist business units with ad-hoc project material from a risk-management stand point.
  • Ensure risk exposure and incidents are effectively aggregated and reported, providing management with a comprehensive view of overall risk exposure.
  • Maintain oversight of new business and IT projects to ensure that risks are being addressed.

THE PERSON

  • Strong insurance background with proven ability to understand the risk management function.
  • Good understanding of Solvency Capital Requirements, planning, control and reporting.
  • Proven risk management skills including reputational, legal and regulatory, financial and operational.
  • Minimum five years’ experience within risk management, preferably in a global organisation.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley systems/Solvency II requirements.
  • Highly analytical and logical approach to problem solving
