Barden is thrilled to partner with a leading Irish PLC to find a dynamic Senior Risk Manager to join their team. This specialist role requires a strong communicator with sharp business acumen, ready to collaborate with various stakeholders and make critical decisions.
This is a pivotal appointment, offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced insurance professional with a commercial mindset to join a well-established, dynamic team. A background in captive insurance is a plus but not essential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Oversee the annual renewal process, including the collection, verification, and consolidation of sums insured and financial data.
- Prepare and produce detailed renewal submissions for captive managers, fronting insurers, brokers, and reinsurance panels. This includes gathering necessary data and presenting it effectively.
- Distribute essential insurance documentation such as the Group insurance manual, certificates of insurance, and contract documentation to support the business objectives of operating companies.
- Oversee all insurance claims, with a special emphasis on handling significant losses. Analyse claims loss ratios and trends, prepare reports for operating company presentations, and follow up on actions from quarterly claims stewardship meetings.
- Lead the insurance workstream in M&A activities, providing advice during due diligence processes. Implement the required insurance strategy for targets and identify synergies to achieve optimal solutions.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, leading and managing SPA reviews and the Warranty & Indemnity insurance process. Ensure clear communication and effective management of insurance-related matters.
- Supply relevant data and information for Board and Committee meetings, ensuring that all necessary details are available for informed decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the Group’s Insurance Program by expanding current wordings or exploring new lines of cover. Analyse potential improvements and implement changes to optimize the program.

- Skilled in engaging with senior leaders such as Managing Directors, CFOs, and Board Members, both internally and externally.
- Holds a relevant professional qualification (ACII or equivalent) with over 10 years of experience in broking, underwriting, or insurance/risk management, with in-depth knowledge of captives and multi-line insurance.
- Possesses strong financial and analytical abilities, a commercial mindset focused on economic value, and stays proactive in keeping up with insurance market trends.
