Barden have been retained by a global insurer to identify their next Senior Risk Specialist (ERM).

THE ROLE

  • Assist the Head of Risk Services in delivering the enterprise-wide risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) programme, coordinating with risk register owners and second and third line functions as appropriate.
  • The Senior Risk Analyst will lead initiatives required in implementing an effective ERM system across the global group. This will include strategies, processes and reporting procedures necessary to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report on the risks facing the Company.
  • The position requires an individual with a strong insurance, financial and risk background.
  • The successful candidate will require strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present ideas effectively to senior leadership.
  • Must have a demonstrable mastery of basic Microsoft applications used regularly by the ERM team including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint. Expertise in Magique and Archer software solutions would be helpful.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk frameworks and operational risk, especially risk and control self-assessments. However, other candidates with a wider background in insurance and risk management will also be fairly considered based on merit.   
  • Work with the business and entity Risk teams to implement and embed the international operational risk policy.
  • Work with business units to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities.
  • Work with the Head of Risk Services in the development of risk taxonomies, scoring and appropriate ERM processes and provide support in implementing a consistent ERM framework throughout the organisation globally.
  • Assist with the investigation of emerging risks and loss events, analysing the causes and consequences and maintaining internal documentation.

THE PERSON

  • Risk Management experience within a Financial Services related Company – preferably General Insurance & or Reinsurance.
  • Experience of working with business functions to improve Risk Management processes and promote cultural change.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and document processes and process flows and assess whether they fulfil regulatory and business requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory rules and guidance in relation to General Insurance, as well as other regulatory/legislative subject matter relevant to the industry such as data protection etc.
  • Analytical and reporting experience directed to a senior level audience.
  • Demonstrate a positive enthusiastic approach and willing to undertake continuous professional development in order to maintain a sound knowledge of the industry and regulatory environment.
