Barden is delighted to partner with a tech start-up to support them in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their team in Dublin.

With a strong product already in place, they’re now focused on scaling, expanding features, and enhancing the platform’s performance – and they’re looking for someone to join them on that journey.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You’ll be focused on:
- Backend development using Python, with a focus on financial/statistical logic, scalable architecture, and cloud-native best practices
- Building and improving new product modules, APIs, and algorithm-driven features
- Contributing to system design, cloud deployment strategies, performance optimisations, and validation/testing approaches
- Collaborating closely with a small, expert team, plus cross-functional partners in business and data science, in a fast-paced, agile environment
- As a senior team member, mentoring juniors and contributing to the technical and strategic direction of the platform
Tech Snapshot:
- Language: Python (core stack)
- Frameworks: Flask or Django experience preferred – flexibility around frameworks as long as you have strong API/web application development experience
- Cloud: Azure experience preferred, but AWS/GCP backgrounds also welcome
- DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment automation, and security best practices is highly valued
- Data & APIs: SQL, SQLAlchemy, API design and development
- Frontend: Minimal involvement – this role is backend focused
ABOUT THE PERSON:
- 5+ years’ experience in commercial software engineering, with strong proficiency in Python
- Strong foundation in systems architecture, cloud platforms, data modelling, and problem-solving
- Solid approach to testing, validation, security, and building robust, scalable systems
- Customer-centric mindset – curious about user needs and driven to build solutions that deliver real-world impact
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and always looking for ways to innovate and improve
- Bonus: Experience in finance, fintech, or mathematics/statistics-driven domains
This is a permanent hybrid role based in Dublin city centre (3-4 days/week initially, with flexibility over time – no set days per week). Competitive salary and benefits package, including healthcare, pension, and bonus.
