Barden is thrilled to partner with a leading Irish Insurer to identify Underwriting Compliance and Risk Manager to join their team. This is an important appointment within the business and an opportunity for someone to impact the strategic direction of the team.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Play a crucial role in the Underwriting Management Team (UMT) by contributing to key decisions and offering your expertise in underwriting and governance.
- Demonstrate strong leadership within the business, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusivity.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the Product Oversight & Governance (POG) policy. Enhance process and operational efficiency by overseeing the policy’s application and ensuring it aligns with business objectives.
- Work closely with the Underwriting, Product & Pricing teams to lead and deliver the Quality Assurance framework. Ensure the framework is robust and meets the needs of the underlying risk portfolio, maintaining high standards of quality.
- Take ownership of the Register of Compliance Obligations, testing controls, and ensuring that underwriting practices meet all regulatory requirements. Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date underwriting manuals and business process documentation.
- Coordinate all internal, external, and Central Bank of Ireland audits for the UMT. Draft responses, track audit recommendations and actions, and manage operational and regulatory risks by monitoring trends and changes in the legislative landscape.
- Represent the business in engagements with regulatory bodies and affiliate organizations. Ensure that the company’s interests are well-represented and that regulatory requirements are met.
About the Person
- Relevant professional qualification (ACII preferred) and/or a third-level degree.
- Proven track record in a non-life insurance company or intermediary, with experience in Business/System Analysis.
- Deep understanding of technical, regulatory, and operational requirements in the non-life insurance sector.
- Excellent organizational, time management, numeracy, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience in successful collaboration across multiple business areas, with team management experience being a plus.
