Real FP&A/Business Partnering roles don't come about that often in Cork; but sometimes lightening strikes more than twice...

The ratio of Financial Accounting to Financial Analysis & Planning roles for accountants in Cork is about 20:1.  That’s 5 FP&A type roles for every 100 Financial Accounting type roles.  Wow!

Why’s that?  Likely it originates from our deep history of financial shared services where GL Accountant type roles dominated the landscape for so long in Cork and, as a result, real FP&A roles, especially those that actually partner with the business (be that on OpEx, CapEx or Sales/Revenue), still remain few and far between.

Here’s the problem though – the future of the accounting profession isn’t traditional financial accounting; it’s business partnering; it’s informing decisions through financial and non-financial numerical data; it’s understanding and influencing the business through numbers, not just stating the numbers.

We’re a long way of the tipping point where business partnering type roles overtake financial accounting type roles but, regardless, smarter accountants are seeking to make that move today, in order to guarantee their first mover advantage in the medium term.

The good news is that when it comes to business partnering finance roles, Barden has you covered.  We’ve not one, not two, not five, but eight financial analysis/business partnering roles right now with companies large and small right here in Cork.  These include:

  • Pharma/Finance Hub – Financial Analyst
  • Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain – Financial Business Partner x 2
  • FMCG/Retail – Commercial Financial Analyst
  • Technology – FP&A at various levels x 3
  • Medical Device – Management Information Analyst x 1

If you feel you have what it takes to influence rather than produce the numbers get in touch with Marissa Maher (mmaher@barden.ie) or Denis Galvin (dgalvin@barden.ie) and they will take it from there.  Easy.
