We are recruiting for a Accounts Assistant & Payroll Specialist to join the finance team of a well-established multi-site retail business. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of finance activities within a supportive environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Process weekly and monthly payroll across four legal entities.
  • Manage accounts payable and supplier payments.
  • Maintain general ledger transactions.
  • Prepare weekly bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Process invoices, expenses and payroll journals.
  • Match invoices to supporting documentation.
  • Perform debtor and creditor reconciliations.
  • Support month-end activities, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Assist with management reporting and finance process improvements.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping, payroll or accounts role.
  • Strong reconciliation and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment and knowledge of Sage would be advantageous.
