Barden is delighted to be working with one of our clients as they look to hire an experienced Principal Engineer in Cork. This is a hands-on senior role focused on modernising an ageing .NET system into clean, modern, and maintainable software, while setting the technical standard for the team around you.
You’ll spend most of your time in the code, with real scope to lead from the front, shape how the team works, and bring modern tooling to bear on the modernisation effort.

ABOUT THE ROLE
- Own the technical execution of modernising an ageing .NET codebase into clean, testable, and maintainable services.
- Write production code every day, review PRs with rigour and care, and pair with engineers on the complex problems.
- Set the technical bar: coding standards, testing practices, and design reviews that teach rather than simply approve.
- Explore how modern AI development tooling can accelerate the work.
ABOUT THE PERSON
- 10+ years in software engineering (.NET)
- Solid cloud, database, testing, and CI/CD practice.
- A genuine interest in modern AI development tools and currently using tools like Claude Code, Cursor
- Comfortable leading design reviews, setting standards, and levelling up the engineers around you.

- Hybrid role – 3 days a week in the office (Cork City)
