Head of Finance (Start Up) – Manufacturing – Hybrid – Brisbane

Working closely with the newly appointed General Manager for Australia, this person will lead the establishment of the finance function in ANZ from day one. You’ll be responsible for creating the financial control environment from scratch, supporting acquisitions and integrations, partnering with commercial leadership, and helping build the infrastructure required to support a significant growth journey.

The successful person will be a key member of the leadership team as the business transitions from a distributor model to a fully integrated manufacturing and commercial operation. Over time, they will also have the opportunity to build and lead a centralised finance support model for the region.

About the Role

You will work closely with colleagues across the wider practice, contributing to both client delivery and the development of junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a mixed portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, covering both compliance and advisory
  • Advising on bespoke tax planning assignments including succession and estate planning
  • Supporting clients on tax consultancy, restructuring and investment related matters
  • Assisting with international tax assignments and overseas transactions
  • Providing VAT and general tax advisory support as required
  • Involvement in Revenue audits and tax appeals, including client representation
  • Responding to ad hoc technical queries and conducting tax legislation research
  • Reviewing and preparing tax returns
  • Supervising and mentoring trainees and junior team members

About You

  • ACA, ACCA and or CTA qualified
  • Typically 1–3 years post‑qualification experience in tax
  • Background in a mid tier or Big 4 accountancy practice
  • Comfortable managing client relationships and advising directly on tax matters
  • Interested in working in a collaborative environment with genuine progression opportunities
  • Strong technical foundation coupled with a practical, commercial approach
