I’m working on a new opportunity for an experienced Logistics / Supply Chain professional to step into a senior leadership role with a growing Pan-European wholesale distribution business.
This is a key position within the logistics function, supporting the Head of Logistics and deputising in their absence, while taking responsibility for the day-to-day performance and development of the wider logistics operation.
The business operates across Ireland, the UK and Europe. It’s a fast-moving environment where strong leadership, operational efficiency and customer service are really important.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You’ll play a key role in leading and developing the logistics function, including:
- Leading and developing teams across logistics, transport, warehousing and inventory.
- Supporting the Head of Logistics with the overall strategy and deputising when required.
- Setting clear objectives and KPIs, managing performance and supporting employee development.
- Overseeing daily warehouse and transport operations, ensuring products are received, stored and delivered efficiently.
- Monitoring warehouse productivity, transport performance, stock accuracy and service levels.
- Managing relationships with customers, suppliers, warehouse partners and transport providers.
- Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, training and succession planning.
- Analysing operational performance and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing, transport and supply chain operations.
- Acting as a key escalation point for operational and customer service issues.
- Ensuring strong standards around health & safety, compliance, risk management and operational controls.
- Providing regular updates, analysis and recommendations to senior management.
ABOUT THE PERSON:
- 5+ years’ experience in logistics, transport, warehousing or supply chain management.
- Strong experience leading and developing operational teams.
- A solid understanding of warehouse operations, transport, inventory control and customer service.
- Experience managing KPIs, productivity, budgets and operational performance.
- A proven track record of delivering process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Strong leadership, communication and people management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience within FMCG, retail, manufacturing, distribution or 3PL would be particularly relevant.
- A degree or professional qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline would be advantageous, as would project management experience or professional membership of CILT/APICS
