We’re working with an established construction business to recruit a Junior Buyer to support the purchasing requirements of live projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in purchasing, accounts payable or construction administration who is keen to develop their commercial and procurement skills in a busy, project-led environment.

Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, site teams, Quantity Surveyors, suppliers and accounts, you’ll play an important role in ensuring materials and services are ordered efficiently, deliveries are coordinated and supplier invoices are processed and resolved accurately.

This is a varied, hands-on role offering exposure to both procurement and the financial administration that supports successful project delivery.

About the Role:

You’ll support the day-to-day purchasing activities across live construction projects, helping to keep orders, deliveries and invoices moving efficiently.

• Sourcing materials, plant and services, obtaining supplier quotations and assisting with price comparisons.
• Raising purchase orders in line with agreed approval processes.
• Monitoring orders, lead times and phased deliveries to support project requirements.
• Liaising with site teams, Quantity Surveyors and suppliers to resolve availability, delivery and specification queries.
• Processing supplier invoices and matching them against purchase orders, delivery dockets and agreed pricing.
• Investigating invoice discrepancies, following up on outstanding approvals and working with internal teams and suppliers to clear queries.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records, order documentation and invoice trackers.
• Supporting month-end invoice reconciliation, procurement reporting and general purchasing administration.
• Ensuring purchasing procedures, financial controls and relevant product documentation are followed.

About the Person:

You’ll ideally bring:

• Previous experience in purchasing, accounts payable, invoice processing or administration.
• An interest in construction or the building materials sector.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general office systems.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. The right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in developing within procurement are just as important.
