Susan joined the Barden team in May 2023. We sat down with her recently to find out a little bit more about her…

Where are you from?

I’m from Cork City.

Where did you study?

I studied Economics and Politics in University College Cork (UCC).

What did you enjoy most about your time studying?

The studying wasn’t really the highlight for me, it was all about the friendships I made during that time and the great memories. The friends I made in college are still some of my best friends to this day!

How old were you when you had your first paying job? And what was it?

I had my first paying job at 15, I babysat at the weekends and during the summer months.

Where did you work before joining Barden?

I worked in talent acquisition for the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork. My focus was on the recruitment of healthcare professionals, specifically nurses. It was a demanding and fast-paced role, considering there is such a shortage of nurses here in Ireland and a high demand for their skills.

Why did you choose to work with Barden?

I had decided it was time for a change and to make a move from talent acquisition, so I started exploring my opportunities in the wider world of recruitment. I was introduced to Barden by someone that had a really positive experience with them as a candidate. After speaking with Ed, Tara and Jonathon it was clear to me that Barden really did do things differently with a caring people first approach. I knew that was something I wanted to part of.

What’s the best thing about working here?

Both the culture and people. There is always a positive and uplifting vibe around the office and it’s great to be working with such supportive and passionate people.

What does your role in Barden involve?

My role involves working with people who are looking for advice to make the best next step in their career, getting to know them and assisting them to find a role that will be the best fit for them. I work alongside Tara Higgins in the Business Support and Operational Finance Practice. We provide support to people across different areas in Business Support such as human Resources and administration. In the Operational Finance we look after roles such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.

What three words best describe you?

Enthusiastic, creative, and honest.

Who is your role model, and why?

My cousin, Sarah Greene has always been a role model to me. She’s an amazing actor and has always been so dedicated to pursuing her dreams. Her commitment to her craft is a reminder that hard work and determination will always pay off. We love to watch her succeed and of course love seeing her in action!

Glass half full or half empty?

I’m definitely a “glass half full” kind of person. I’ll always try to see the positive side of things out of any situation!

Where in the world would you most like to visit?

South America, is definitely on the top of my travel bucket list.

And finally, who would win a fight between Spiderman, Batman or Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman, easily!
