Barden have been exclusively engaged by a well-established distributor within Ireland and the UK who are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team.

This is a key hire for the finance team as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic professional looking for a new challenge in a dynamic environment.

The Assistant Accountant will report to the Finance Manager in their UK team as well as working closely with the wider finance team. This role offers exposure to month-end close, financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting, with room for professional development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Act as the primary payroll contact with the payroll bureau, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments;
  • Oversee payroll postings to accounts monthly and provide ad hoc analysis as needed;
  • Manage and improve the expense process for timely employee reimbursements, including system procedures and monthly postings;
  • Complete bank reconciliations for various group accounts, adhering to month-end timelines;
  • Coordinate month-end activities, ensuring intercompany balance reconciliation with Finance Managers;
  • Prepare necessary reports and analyses for month-end close;
  • Support audit processes by providing evidence and documentation to auditors and external bodies as required;
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency within the finance function, supporting cost savings and other initiatives;
  • Assist the finance team with general support and ad-hoc financial tasks as needed.

ABOUT THE PERSON

  • Accounting technician or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA CIMA);
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role with expertise in bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and payroll processing;
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits;
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills;
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), and other ERP systems;
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, multi-national setting.
