About the Role:
We are looking for a Global Process Safety Senior Engineer to join our Global Design Engineering team based in Cork. This is a pivotal role focused on ensuring process safety within PepsiCo’s strategic capital agenda. As part of a high-performing global team, you will oversee process safety engineering design for key global programs and initiatives. Reporting to the Global Design Engineering Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the implementation of process safety standards and leveraging best practices to deliver complex capital projects efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Safety Leadership: Provide expert process safety engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with PepsiCo’s safety standards across PGCS Beverage Concentrate Manufacturing Platforms.
- Innovative Design: Lead the design of strategic capital projects, incorporating innovative process solutions, new technologies, and state-of-the-art equipment to maximize business value.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on process safety requirements and engineering solutions throughout the design and implementation phases.
- Project Oversight: Manage and guide projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring that process safety considerations are embedded at every stage of design, installation, and validation.
- Best Practices: Develop and leverage engineering best practices from within PepsiCo and across industries, ensuring that designs meet or exceed world-class safety and performance standards.
- Sustainability: Drive the adoption of sustainable engineering practices, ensuring that plant designs support long-term operational sustainability and align with PepsiCo’s broader environmental goals.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize engineering principles, scientific methods, and system knowledge to design technical process equipment solutions that solve complex challenges, enhance performance, and unlock new business opportunities.
- Commissioning & Qualification: Provide technical guidance during commissioning and process qualification to ensure that new technology and systems are feasible, safe, and viable in the proposed configurations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in the process industry, particularly in liquid and powder processing, along with strong expertise in plant manufacturing engineering.
- Process Safety Expertise: Extensive experience applying process safety standards, including FM Global data sheets, Machinery Safety, ATEX Directives, and hygienic design principles.
- Project Management: Strong background in managing capital projects, including front-end design, business case development, capital approval, procurement, construction, commissioning, and validation.
- Engineering Discipline: A degree in Chemical, Process, or equivalent engineering field.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to influence key stakeholders and advocate for process safety in complex operational settings.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance: Expertise in managing environmental, health, and safety standards within large-scale manufacturing environments.
- Technical Competency: Deep technical knowledge of process safety design and the ability to influence operational methods and team performance to ensure the successful delivery of capital projects.
- Change Management: A proven advocate for change management, with experience driving process improvements and safety standards across diverse teams and operations.
