A growing and well-established business in the Cork region is currently looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is part-qualified (or nearly qualified) and keen to take the next step in their accounting career within a fast-moving, commercially focused environment.
This role offers great variety and visibility across the business and would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership and contributing as part of a close-knit, high-performing finance team.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the finance function and assist with:
- Month-end close including journal postings and account reconciliations
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supplier statement reviews and support to AP/AR as required
- Inventory and margin analysis across product lines and locations
- Assisting with VAT, payroll journals, and compliance tasks
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process
- Preparation of information for audit and liaising with external auditors
- Contribution to ongoing finance projects and process improvements
- General finance admin and ad hoc reporting duties
ABOUT THE PERSON:
- Part-qualified or nearly qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- 3 years’ relevant experience in a finance role
- Excellent attention to detail and strong Excel skills
- Experience working in a stock/inventory environment is beneficial but not essential
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Comfortable working on-site in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
