A leading manufacturing company in Cork has engaged Barden to hire a financial analyst to join their team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this is an all-encompassing finance role where you will gain excellent exposure to all aspects of the business.



Sales Analysis

  • Prepare and circulate consolidated divisional weekly and monthly sales reports and review and update the structure of the reports as necessary
  • Provide consolidated divisional sales and material margin analysis including price, volume & mix variances by sector, by business, by customer and by product
  • Ad Hoc Analysis as required by the Plant Manager

Divisional Reporting

  • Prepare consolidated monthly pack for Retail Packaging division with detailed analysis for review by Group Finance
  • Production/enhancement of key performance indicators for retail packaging division with subsequent variance analysis

Month End

  • Preparation of monthly site management accounts including detailed P&L and cash flow analysis and Balance Sheet reconciliations for Cork Plant
  • Detailed Cost Analysis vs Budget and Forecast
  • Prepare and Submit monthly reporting pack to Group Finance
  • Present management accounts to Group FC on a monthly basis
  • Monthly Reconciliation Review of all Prepayments and Accruals and review to ensure accuracy and adequateness
  • Monthly Reconciliation of Intercompany Accounts
  • Monthly Reconciliation of Inventory
  • Monthly Variance analysis Reconciliation
  • Run consolidation process and reconcile to local accounts
  • Calculate monthly working capital days
  • Prepare monthly cashflow forecast
  • Preparation of Balance Scorecard in conjunction with operations team

Statutory Accounts

  • Prepare IFRS account notes required for Group Reporting
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with FRS 101 requirements

Budgeting/ Forecasting

  • Participation in budgeting and other financial planning cycles
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts
  • Prepare continuous variance analysis, analysing variances versus budget, forecast and prior year, in conjunction with the operations team, giving clear insight into the key drivers of variances

Internal Controls

  • Ensure group internal controls are in place and operating effectively
  • Continuously improve internal control framework as required


  • Review and approval of Weekly hours and GTN reports
  • Analysis of Overtime and Other staff costs
  • Posting of Weekly Payroll Journals
  • Review of Holiday Accruals
  • Liaise with Payroll administrator regarding joiners, leavers and payroll reports
  • Review and approval of Agency invoices


  • Review and approve credit notes and manual invoices including label, hub and freight costs
  • Review of new customer credit limits
  • Monthly review of aged debtor balances for follow up actions
  • Review of Customer Price Books and effect of changes of margin

General Responsibilities

  • Liaising with external and internal auditors, legal and tax departments to ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements
  • Assisting operations team in the management of their budgets
  • Preparation and timely submission of VAT, Intrastat and VIES returns
  • Responsibility for accurate and timely maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller as necessary
  • Work closely with operations on new projects within the plant
  • Ensure Transfer Pricing arrangement is implemented between plants
  • Oversee and update the standard costing process for all new products and changes to existing products



  • Be a qualified accountant.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to constantly meet deadlines.
  • Be a motivated, flexible self-starter that works well individually and in teams
  • Have strong IT and Microsoft Office skills. ERP experience would be advantageous.
