Barden is partnering with a very well established law firm currently looking to recruit an Employment Law Solicitor to join its team in Cork.

THE ROLE

Employment Law

You will join a team which provides strategic advice and practical solutions to its clients across both the public and private sectors, working on a diverse caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters including:

  • Advising and guiding employers through investigations, disciplinary proceedings and termination of employment.
  • Advising employers on protected disclosures, transfer of undertakings, employment equality, and unfair dismissals.
  • Representation of employers (primarily) and employees before the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court and Civil Courts.
  • Drafting, negotiation and advising upon contracts, policies, and termination agreements.

Data Protection/Regulatory

Due to continued and consistent growth in this area, the team also support public and private sector clients on a wide range of Regulatory & Data Protection/GDPR matters. Some of the key responsibilities in this area might include:

  • Advising on privacy and data protection matters and the applicable legislation and regulation (such as the GDPR). This will include working on matters such as:

– Data breaches

– Cyber-Attacks

– Inquiries by the Data Protection Commission

– Freedom of Information and Access to Information on the Environment requests

– Gap analysis/risk assessment/data protection impact assessments

  • Advising on contentious and non-contentious regulatory issues across a broad range of regulatory disciplines. This will include working on matters such as investigations, administrative law & fair procedures.

THE PERSON

  • Irish qualified Solicitor with at least 6-7 years’ PQE (or more)
  • In depth knowledge of a full range of employment matters (employee or employer experience both welcomed)
  • Data Protection advisory experience is an advantage but not a requirement
  • An ability to handle a caseload independently, whilst also being a strong team player.
  • An ability to adopt a commercial/practical perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to legal issues.
