Barden are proud to be partnering exclusively with a prominent Irish charity to support the appointment of a Finance Director on a permanent basis.

This senior finance role will form part of the leadership group and guide the financial strategy, financial operations, and embed robust governance across all aspects of the organisation.

Ideally this role will suit a qualified accountant with a minimum of 7 years post qualified experience, who has worked in a not-for-profit type organisation, or highly regulated environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lead the finance team, fostering transparency, trust, and accountability while contributing to organisational strategy as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Develop and implement finance policies, budgets, and forecasts aligned with the overall vision and strategic plan.
  • Oversee financial reporting, analysis, and compliance, including annual financial statements, month-end close, revenue recognition, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure effective cost control, risk management, and robust internal controls, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Act as liaison with auditors, Board, and Finance Committee, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support governance, annual reporting, and compliance with CRO, GDPR, and other funding requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance trust, collaboration, and funding impact.
  • Drive operational efficiency, process improvement, and change management across finance and governance functions.
  • Monitor KPIs, challenge performance, and implement strategies to deliver organisational targets.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Qualified accountant with 7+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Proven strategic leadership in a similar-sized organisation, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience or qualification in corporate governance desirable.
  • Strong senior leadership and people management skills, with emotional intelligence and a collaborative, respectful approach.
  • Ability to think strategically, considering broad internal and external factors in problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills at senior level.
  • Knowledge of Board operations and corporate governance.
  • Advanced IT skills, including spreadsheets, databases, accounting software, and web-based systems.
  • Flexible, able to manage competing priorities and complex workloads.
