We are delighted to be partnering with our client, a leading large Irish business with a strong heritage and culture of innovation, in their search for a Senior Buyer to join the team in Cork.

In this role, you will drive reductions in Indirect Procurement costs through Central Procurement, Supplier negotiation, and consolidation. You will also increase controls and compliance across indirect spend through formal contracting, product cataloguing, and solution challenging.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Develop, own and drive procurement category strategies for IT, and any other categories as needed
  • Analyse areas of spend to identify sourcing initiatives and review spend analysis reports to target spend consolidation opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to Group Indirect Procurement policy by reviewing requisitions and purchase orders
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and provide data to finance teams
  • Agree on requirements with budget holders and manage the end-to-end tendering process
  • Negotiate with suppliers and work with marketing consultants to achieve best commercial outcomes
  • Assist budget holders with the contracting process
  • Provide an excellent service to business users and build and maintain relationships with key indirect suppliers
  • Manage and align stakeholder requirements to establish a consistent way of working
  • Leverage internal purchasing systems and manage the set of indirect procurement suppliers
  • Review requisitions for non-preferred suppliers and track adherence of actual pricing to negotiated pricing
  • Increase spend via catalogued goods and services and reduce the number of indirect procurement suppliers
  • Liaise with various stakeholders up to executive level, influence them, and demonstrate non-authority leadership

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • At least 4-5 years of procurement/purchasing/commercial experience negotiating high-value contracts
  • Possess negotiation skills, a can-do attitude, flexibility, and resilience
  • Have excellent communication, active listening, and attention to detail
  • Experience with ERP systems desirable
