As a qualified tax professional, you may feel at a crossroads at some stage throughout your career. More than likely, you began your tax journey as a graduate after college and pursued a training contract when your goals were to a) qualify as a Chartered Tax Advisor and b) gain as much tax experience as possible.
Fast forward a few years to when you are qualified, you’re a Chartered Tax Advisor and have gained varied tax exposure across compliance and advisory. But what happens next?
- For some professionals they decide to pursue a career in their training firm with the goal to become a Director/Partner in the future;
- For others, they feel a move to another professional services firm is better aligned to their tax career aspirations;
- And the remainder decide to make the move to the corporate or public sector.
There are plenty of opportunities for tax professionals in Ireland, but it’s important to remember that each path is unique to each individual. It really depends on your career goals.
