We’re excited to share our speaker line up for the Barden & CASSC FAE Careers Evening taking place on Thursday 29th February in The Dean, Cork.

The evening has been structured to ensure those attending get access to the right information, at the right time, so that when they qualify, they can make the right, and best, decisions about their professional future.

Who is it for? 

This event is for those who have passed FAEs and are approaching the end of their training contract. It is also open to recently qualified accountants.

About Our Speakers…

Niamh Barrett FCA | Finance Director EMEA | Amazon

We are delighted that Niamh Barrett FCA, Finance Director EMEA, Amazon will join us on the night as our key note speaker. Niamh holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Cork (UCC). After her studies in UCC she went on to train with PwC where she completed her Chartered Accountants Ireland qualification.

Following her training with PwC, Niamh moved to PepsiCo where she spent 20 years and held a variety of Control, Planning and Finance Transformation roles and had the opportunity to work in the UK, Spain and Switzerland before returning to Ireland. In November 2019 Niamh moved to Amazon and oversees the AWS and Kuiper businesses across EMEA.

Jonathan Olden | Managing Partner | Barden Munster 

Jonathan Olden is Managing Partner of Barden Munster. He began his career as solicitor, with one of Cork’s largest legal firms. During his time there he gained excellent experience advising and representing a range of clients. In 2010 Jonathan moved to the recruitment sector. In that period he recruited and lead teams in Cork and Dublin, within the legal, accounting and finance space.

In 2017, Jonathan founded Barden Munster with Ed Heffernan and Elaine Brady – since then Barden has grown organically into a hugely successful team of talent advisory & recruitment experts in Dublin and Cork. He now leads a team of over 20 talent advisory and recruitment professionals covering accounting & tax, business support, financial services, legal, life sciences, supply chain and technology.

Conor Flynn | Chairperson | CASSC & Turnaround and Restructuring Executive | EY-Partenon

Conor is a Turnaround and Restructuring Executive within the EY Strategy and Transactions Department. Based in the EY Cork office, Conor provides advice to some of the largest financial service institutions in Ireland.

Conor holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Cork along with an MSc Corporate Finance from the University of Galway. Conor also recently completed his Final Admitting Examination (FAE) with Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Conor is the Chairperson of the Chartered Accountants Student Society of Cork (CASSC) for 2023/2024. He firmly believes that a strong network and student advocacy is essential for student wellbeing. Conor is eager to improve student engagement with CASSC and Chartered Accountants Ireland over the coming year.

Andrew Quirke | Chairperson | Cork Chartered Accountants Ireland Young Professionals | Deloitte

Andrew is a Senior Manager working with Deloitte Cork. He works in the Audit Department and has been with Deloitte for 7 years.

Andrew completed a Bachelor of Accounting in University College Cork (UCC) and joined Deloitte following graduation where he completed his Chartered Accountants Ireland qualification.

In 2021, Andrew became the Chairperson of the Cork Chartered Accountants Ireland District Society Young Professional Committee.

Aine Crowley ACA | Senior Financial Analyst | Eli Lilly and Company 

Aine is a Senior Financial Analyst in the Finance department in Eli Lilly Kinsale since May 2023.

Aine completed the EY graduate program in the audit department from September 2019 to April 2023. Aine passed the Chartered Accountant exams first time during this period and is a recently qualified member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Aine studied in Munster Technological University where she secured a First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Business in Accounting course.

Darragh McPolin ACA | Senior Associate | Grant Thornton 

Darragh is a Senior Associate with Grant Thornton having recently made the move to Professional Services from Industry. He works in the Advisory department within the Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (FAAS) team, providing reporting solutions to clients in various jurisdictions and industries.

Having completed the Apple Finance Graduate Programme at their European headquarters in Cork from 2019 to 2023 he has gained experience across several finance functions including O2C, P2P and R2R.

Darragh recently qualified as member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and holds a BSc Finance degree from University College Cork. He sees himself as a goal orientated individual both at work and extracurricular activities.

Paudie McMahon | Tax Senior Analyst | PepsiCo

Paudie McMahon has successfully completed a Master of Accounting program at University College Cork (UCC). He has attained professional qualifications as both an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

With nearly five years of professional experience, Paudie has gained valuable insights and expertise in their field. His academic background, coupled with the practical application of his knowledge, positions him as a seasoned professional in the realms of accounting and taxation. Paudie is currently a Tax Senior Analyst in PepsiCo.

Siobhán Sexton ACA | Business Lead & Expert Recruiter in Recently Qualified Accounting, Tax & Practice Careers | Barden 

Originally from Cork, Siobhán trained in KPMG Cork in the Tax Department and she is ACA qualified since 2017. Siobhán also worked as part of the Management Consulting team in KPMG Dublin during her training contract. She worked predominantly on pharmaceutical, IT and construction clients.

Following the completion of her training contract with KPMG, Siobhán joined Barden Dublin in March 2017 as part of the Recently Qualified Accountants team. In 2018 she took a sabbatical to travel to and work in Canada. During her time in Canada Siobhán worked with both Michael Page and Robert Walters Recruitment. On returning to Ireland, Siobhán relocated to her hometown of Cork and now works with our Recently Qualified Accountants team in Barden Cork.
