Private Clients: Tax Talent in Demand

The practice landscape in Ireland continues to evolve, creating new opportunities for tax professionals across all levels.

Recent recruitment drives have been led by teams across the firms looking to expand their private client teams. Some firms are developing their tax services in this space, and excellent career opportunities have emerged.

With analysis such as this recent one with Goodbody ‘Retired households’ hold 27% of net wealth in Ireland, says Goodbody – The Irish Times, which captures the amount of wealth circulating in the Irish economy now, it’s no wonder private client services are being sought after.  In particular, private client tax advisors are needed to optimise the tax positions while ensuring compliance obligations are met.

Private clients capture a large sector of the market as they not only cover high net worth individuals or family wealth planning but also advise entrepreneurs, private business owners, family-run businesses, and private capital investors. Succession planning remains high on the agenda for many of these businesses, but also flows into many other areas often associated with corporates such as ;

  • Private capital agenda
  • Business structuring, reorganisations, capitalisation and liquidity
  • Cash tax planning and effectiveness
  • Compliance and reporting
  • Tax risk and controversy management

The demand for private client services is projected to keep growing, leading to promising career prospects for tax advisors. Strengthening, broadening, and deepening expertise in this space will ensure diverse and dynamic opportunities.

Encouragingly, many of the partners and directors hiring at the moment cite personality and culture fit as the most important factor when considering their next hire, and they themselves have developed cultures that are open, approachable, flexible, and rewarding.

Barden is delighted to be building relationships with many of these hiring managers based in practices across Dublin. We know what they’re like to work with and we know what type of person they would like to work with. As a tax professional considering your options, it’s important to look beyond a job specification or company website and get to know the people you will potentially spend a lot of time with.
