Meet Our Guest Speakers for the PQ & Trainee Accountants Event of the Year…

On Tuesday 22nd November 2022 at the Indeed Offices at Capital Dock, Barden in partnership with AccountancySchool.ie & Indeed, and in association with ACCA Ireland, are creating a new destination. A destination where early career accountants (at all levels) can meet other early career accountants and build the professional networks they need for their future.

Here we share a brief snapshot of each of our guest speakers, who on the night will share their study, career and professional insights….

 

Peter Fagan | Senior Director, Global Finance | Indeed

Peter is a senior finance leader with 25+ years’ experience working in the Technology and Financial Services sectors. He has worked at both operational and Board level. Most recently, he was the EMEA Financial Controller at Dell Bank (4 years) which was a start-up Financial Services business. Prior to that, he was the EMEA Financial Controller at CIT (4 years) and the Finance Director at Hewlett Packard Ireland (12 years) for the Ireland sales business and EMEA call centre. He qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) in 1994.

 

Cole Carroll | Team Lead & Recruitment Expert in Part Qualified Accountant Careers | Barden

Cole is a grad of the TUD and holds a BA in Business/Sports. She is also a grad of the Institute of Technology, Carlow. Cole has been recruiting within this area of finance recruitment for a number of years and is very passionate about it. She has progressed to Team Lead level following her dedication and hard work in supporting people she’s been working with.

 

Cole has spent a lot of time in particular helping Part Qualified Accountants to map out their careers and has also helped AP/AR/Payroll professionals to secure their next role.

 

Dave O’Donoghue | MD | AccountancySchool.ie and Adjunct Lecturer in Trinity College

Dave is a founder and the Managing Director of AccountancySchool.ie. Dave will share his personal experience in helping trainee accountants balance work, study and life.

 

James Ruane ACCA | Financial Accountant | Primark

James completed his undergraduate degree in Law & Accounting in 2010 from the University of Limerick (UL). After taking some time to travel and work in various other industries James joined Mediolanum Irish operations as an account’s assistant in 2016, while beginning his journey with ACCA in 2017.

 

While Studying with the AccountancySchool.ie James passed all of his exams first time around by December 2019, finishing on a high with a first place in Ireland in Advanced Financial Management. After spending two years working as a management accountant with Perrigo Pharmaceutical company, during lockdown, James moved to his current position as a financial accountant with Primark Ireland in their HQ in Dublin city centre.

 

Ed Heffernan | Managing Partner | Barden Ireland

Ed Heffernan is Managing Partner of Barden Ireland. In 2014 he founded Barden, with Elaine Brady. He has worked for many years in recruitment both locally and internationally, within the accounting and tax space.

 

Ed has worked with 1000s of accountants nationally on career moves and is a regular contributor to industry publications, including Accountancy Ireland & Accountancy Plus.

A UCC grad Ed holds a number of qualifications in personnel management, human resources and later completed an MBA with Trinity College Dublin.
