We recently caught up with Orla to find out more about her…

Where are you from?

I’m from a village called Ballyclough in North Cork.

Where did you study?

I went to the University of Limerick (UL) where I studied a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance. I then went on to complete the Chartered Accountants Ireland qualification.

How old were you when you had your first paying job? And what was it?

Coming from a small village, I was kept busy babysitting from the age of 15 for a few families around. Thinking back, I’m not too sure if I was old enough to mind myself at this age!

Where did you work before joining Barden?

Before joining Barden I worked with PwC in the audit department where I completed my ACA exams. I met some great people during my time there.

What made you decide to move into the world of recruitment?

Getting the opportunity to help create a positive change in people’s lives? Count me in!

I have always loved working with people and now being able to use my experience and qualifications to date to create value for people is something special.

Why did you choose to work with Barden?

The people! I had such a great experience throughout the interview process, as a candidate, meeting the team. I came away from every meeting feeling excited about a career in recruitment with Barden and the possibility of joining such a passionate team. I could tell from every conversation that everyone loves what they do and that they also really cared about me changing careers, ensuring to give the best advice. For me – I couldn’t wait to start working with great people.

What’s the best thing about working here?

Again, without a doubt – the people!

Also getting to work towards goals together as part of an encouraging, supportive & fun team but also getting to help people on their journey of finding their next role.

What was most surprising to you about Barden?

I would say Barden’s distinctive approach to the recruitment process and experience.

What does your role in Barden involve?

My role is helping recently qualified accountants to navigate and identify the best next steps for their careers. To understand each person’s preferences, I try to use my own background and qualification to help them find the right role and opportunity for them. I listen to what they want and help and support them in making the best decision for their professional future.

I also work closely with our clients and help them find the best person for their team and one that can help their business to grow.

What top tip would you give to those looking to change role?

List what’s important to you in your next move and keep it central when considering roles as you go through the process.

Has to be a glass half full always..

The Parent Trap – A classic!

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
