Meeting the Barden Team…Elaine Hickey

Elaine Hickey

Elaine Hickey is a Research Associate with Barden. She joined Barden in July 2019 and is based in our Cork office. Elaine works with and supports the Barden recruitment team across the various expert areas. Her core activities include support administration, market research and resourcing for the consultant and leadership teams.

We caught up with Elaine recently to learn a little more about her.

Where are you from?

Knocknagree – on the right side of the Cork/Kerry border!

Where did you study?

First UCC, then Cork College of Commerce….I have had an unusual career path!

What did you enjoy most about your time studying?  

Probably the times not spent studying!

How old were you when you had your first paying job?

I was 16, working in one of the local pubs.

Is there an achievement or contribution that you are most proud of?

Probably completing my leaving cert and getting into college. I was extremely sick in my last 2 years in school and was advised to repeat my leaving cert but didn’t want to be left behind. There was a lot of tears on results day!!

Why did you choose to work with Barden?

I had my heart set on this job from when I first saw the ad, and it was obvious from the first time I met Ed that Barden do things differently.

What’s the best thing about working here?

100% the people…we get the work done and have a bit of craic along the way!

What three words best describe you?

Honest, Empathetic, Sarcastic!

Glass half full or half empty?

Half full…..preferably of gin!

What’s your favourite song?

Snow Patrol, Chasing Cars

Where in the world would you most like to visit?

There is a very long list, but top would be a safari in Nairobi.

And finally, who would win a fight between Spiderman, Batman or Wonder Woman?

 Wonder Woman……don’t we win all arguments?
