A fantastic career opportunity has been newly created for a group tax manager to join an Irish international group, headquartered in Cork. 

The first tax hire for the group, you will manage the tax matters for the group, responsible for the compliance matters, shaping the groups tax strategy and shaping the tax function for future acquisitions and expansion plans within this international group.

Working close with external advisors will remain critical at this point of the groups growth along with developing new relationships both internally within the group and with other external advisors, revenue authorities etc to manage the tax matters. 

An ideal opportunity for a tax professional operating at least manager /senior manager level with a commercially focused mindset.  Experience advising international companies across multiple tax heads and ambitious enough to lead a tax function and progress his/her career within a highly successful company.  

About the position 

  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimise the organisation’s tax position. 
  • Consider and advise on the tax implications of business decisions, geographic expansions, acquisitions, and other transactions.
  • Manage the global compliance agenda for the group, partnering with internal finance teams and local professional advisers to ensure compliance. 
  • Responsibility for further development of a global transfer pricing strategy and lead tax projects supporting business expansion and M&A, efficient cashflow funding and repatriation 
  • Identify new transfer pricing legislation across the globe and understand the potential impact on the Group. Manage transfer pricing documentation process to ensure timely creation of transfer pricing reports on a Groupwide basis.
  • Manging existing and future tax audits.  Proactively identifying emerging tax issues which could result in a future tax audit.  Establish and maintain tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. 
  • Provide guidance on tax accounting principles and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards (FRS102/IFRS)
  • Collaborate and business partner with internal stakeholders, including Finance, Commercial, HR, Operations, Business Development, IT and other business units, to provide tax advice and support. Communicate tax-related information and updates to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the process of identifying, documenting, and claiming Research and Development (R&D) tax credits for eligible projects throughout the Group.
  • Providing strategic guidance and operational support related to human capital taxation including mobility and relocations around the Group.
  • Encourage and lead digitalisation and Continuous Improvement of the Tax Function
  • Responsible for overseeing relationships with external tax advisory firms, ensuring the delivery of high-quality tax services, and maximising the value of these partnerships for the Group.

About the person 

  • Chartered Tax Advisor with a minimum of 3 years pqe with some management experience, ideally from a big 4 practice or/and similar industry 
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively and translate complex tax matters to management and cross functional colleagues including having an ability to develop effective internal and external networks.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring finance and/or tax professionals.
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to demonstrate initiative, autonomy, accuracy, commitment, and an analytical mindset.
