The recent Salary Survey from the Chartered Accountants Ireland Leinster Society, in partnership with Barden, examined not only salary, career satisfaction, and fringe benefits, but also gathered insights from members on technology and the future of accounting.
Technology offers a range of benefits, from freeing up time and reducing costs to enhancing the delivery of value-added services and improving client engagement. In a profession as dynamic as accounting, embracing technology is no longer optional—it’s essential. With the rapid pace of technological advancements, staying ahead of the curve is crucial for all those working in the field.
A key highlight of this year’s survey is the rise in positive perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on daily roles. There is a clear trend of increased optimism and acceptance regarding the opportunities AI presents, as reflected in this year’s findings:
- Over half (52%) of respondents view AI as a significant opportunity for the profession, up from 40% in 2023.
- 55% believe AI will enable the profession to move further up the value chain, in terms of the type of work it delivers (compared to 47% in 2023).
- 57% feel that AI will have a positive impact on their career, a notable increase from 44% last year.
In summary, there is a marked shift towards a more positive outlook on AI, making it undoubtedly one of the most significant topics of this year’s survey, with figures reflecting a substantial leap from 2023.
