An excellent opportunity has arisen for a tax manager to join a leading Irish business with significant international operations as group tax manager.  A consultative role, you will be part of a great tax function which plays an important role providing expertise to the wider group to support the delivery of the company’s strategic goals.  As such it’s a commercially driven and strategic type of tax position within industry.  

Reporting to the head of tax, this position is focused on consultancy and advisory type projects with a much smaller focus on compliance.  An ideal opportunity for a tax manager from practice or with circa 3 years pqe within practice or industry. 

About the position

  • Manage the day-to-day tax function including responsibility for the management of one direct report.
  • Research, document, and provide tax advice to decision makers on the tax implications of key transactions and investment decisions
  • Responsible for the identification and implementation of strategic tax planning opportunities and for the implementation of tax strategy in support of the wider strategic objectives of the Group
  • You will play a key role in supporting the group’s expanding international business units and projects.
  • Keep up to date with any changes in tax legislation, Budget Day changes, tax practices etc. and ensure the business is aware of any potential implications of such changes
  • Research tax legislation, case law and practice as required. You will be responsible for identifying the impact of and implementation of changes in tax policy on the Group and for communicating same to the wider business.
  • Support the Shared Services Centre with queries arising across all the tax heads
  • Support HR and the business units with regards to a globally mobile workforce and ensuring compliance with local tax requirements in overseas jurisdictions.
  • Review of the year end corporation tax computations for the Irish group, the current and deferred tax computations for the Group and any notes/disclosures for the financial statements.
  • Ensuring compliance with transfer pricing requirements including Local Files, Master File and Country by Country Reporting where required

About the person 

  • Qualified tax professional with appox 3 years pqe/operating at manager level within practice
  • Strong corporate tax background although specialisms in other tax heads will be considered
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to explain tax matters and communicate effectively to non tax professionals 
  • An interest in developing other areas of expertise along with an interest in understanding general business matters and contributing to the success of the group 
  • Good leadership qualities and a friendly team player
