Here in Barden we are delighted to be partnering with our client, a growing and unique business, in their search for an ambitious Purchasing Assistant to work closely alongside the Director of Purchasing on a number of key projects as the business continues to grow.

You don’t need to know everything about Purchasing here just know you just have to be passionate about this company’s growth and mission and passionate about kick starting your career in the supply chain and procurement space. It is brilliant to see this business performing so well on an Irish as well as international stage. This is a global role and there are a number of entities involved.

This role will work closely with the wider Purchasing team with the Director of Purchasing and other various functions.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services for projects.
  • Research and identify potential suppliers, contractors, and vendors for materials and services.
  • Obtain price quotes, negotiate terms, and establish vendor relationships to secure the best deals and discounts.
  • Maintain and update a database of suppliers, including contact information, product catalogs, and pricing.
  • Prepare purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in quantities, specifications, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with project managers and teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Track and monitor inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment, ensuring on-time delivery and efficient logistics.
  • Verify the quality and specifications of delivered materials, addressing any discrepancies or issues.
  • Assist in managing and controlling project budgets by tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
  • Work with accounting and finance departments to reconcile invoices and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor performance and conducting supplier performance reviews.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to purchasing and procurement.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

  • Relevant degree and a minimum of 1 year of purchasing or procurement experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and positive attitude.
  • Ability to deal with various different stakeholders.
