Jonathan Olden | Managing Partner | Barden Munster

Jonathan Olden is Managing Partner of Barden Cork. He began his career in the legal sector, spending the first 6 years with one of Cork’s largest legal firms. During his time there he qualified as a solicitor and gained excellent and practical in-house experience advising and representing a range of clients.

In 2010 Jonathan moved to the recruitment sector specialising in finance recruitment. Since then he has recruited in Cork and Dublin, within the legal, accounting and finance space.

In 2017, together with Ed Heffernan and Elaine Brady, he established Barden Cork. He now leads a team of 8 recruitment experts covering accounting & tax, financial services, IT and legal recruitment.

Evan O’Donnell | Co-Chair CASSC & Assurance Associate PwC

Evan O’Donnell is a third year Assurance Associate in PwC Cork, specialising in the International & Domestic Business market.

He is current Co-Chairperson of CASSC, and has been involved with the CASSC committee for 3 years holding the roles of Education Office and Vice-Chairperson. Evan is a proud CASSC member and delighted to be part of the most active regional CASS society! As Co-Chairperson, along with Lisa Saunders, he is keen to help CASSC members connect with each other and to support the Chartered Accountant students of Cork by creating a strong network.

 

Dan McCarthy ACA | Financial Accountant (Consolidation) | Amarenco

Dan McCarthy ACA graduated from UCC in 2018 with a BSc in Accounting and from there joined the audit department of KPMG Cork to pursue his training contract. Having spent 4 years with KPMG he was keen to move into industry and after exploring the market in Cork, he was delighted to secure the role of Financial Accountant (Consolidation) with Amarenco in January 2023 where he is am working as part of the group finance team.

 

Siobhan Sexton ACA | Business Lead | Expert in Recently Qualified Accounting, Tax & Practice Careers | Barden Cork

Originally from Cork, Siobhán Sexton ACA trained in KPMG Cork in the Tax Department and she is ACA qualified since 2017.

Siobhán also worked as part of the Management Consulting team in KPMG Dublin during her training contract. She worked predominantly on pharmaceutical, IT and construction clients.

This experience gives her a unique insight into the finance, accounting and professional service markets.

Following the completion of her training contract with KPMG, Siobhán joined Barden Dublin in March 2017 as part of the Recently Qualified Accountants team.

In 2018 she took a sabbatical to travel to and work in Canada. During her time in Canada Siobhán worked with both Michael Page and Robert Walters Recruitment. On returning to Ireland, Siobhán relocated to her hometown of Cork and now works with our Recently Qualified Accountants team in Barden Cork.

Aodán Ogden ACA | Financial Accountant | Brookfield

Aodán Ogden ACA graduated from University Limerick (UL) in 2018 where he majored in Accountancy and Finance, with Entrepreneurship as a minor. From there he joined BDO’s audit department to undertake and complete his training contract and Chartered Accountant exams. In November 2022 he joined Brookfield Renewable as a Financial Accountant.

 

John Kelly | Audit & Assurance Partner | Deloitte Ireland LLP

John Kelly is an Audit & Assurance Partner in Deloitte based in the Cork office. He is part of the Consumer & Technology business team with a particular focus on privately-owned businesses in the Munster region.

John is experienced in supporting large privately owned businesses in a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, technology, pharmaceutical, retail and not-for-profit. He has over 15 years’ experience providing audit and advisory services to both international and local companies, primarily focussed on privately held companies. He also spent time working in an industry role in controllership, project management and technical accounting.

John previously had a 10-year career as a professional rugby player, representing Munster and Ireland. He has also held a voluntary role as the chair of Munster Rugby’s professional game board, a group with oversight of the strategy and development of professional rugby in the province. He is a qualified accountant and holds and B Eng in Civil Engineering and a H Dip in Applied Science from University College Cork (UCC).
